Creeture Comforts Scope of Services

Creeture Comforts office hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on weekends by appointment. We are available to meet with clients at their home during regular business hours, weekday evenings and weekend days.

Our standard pet visiting hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., unless we're providing overnight/house sitting services. Upon request, we may able to come as early as 7 a.m. or as late as 9 p.m. for an additional fee.

Our territory encompasses all of Simsbury, Granby, Avon, Canton, Farmington/Burlington and most of East Granby. If our closest sitter has to travel more than 10 miles each way to care for your pets, a mileage premium may be added to the basic fees.

In-Home Pet Sitting Services

Before starting in-home services, we meet with you and your pets at your home to obtain instructions and keys and assess the amount of time involved while getting to know your best friends. We'll ask you to fill out some forms, which are download-able from this Web site's Documents page (Agreement for Services and Guidelines & Policies).

During our initial meeting, you choose the number of visits and the type of services you'd like us to provide, which may include any one or all of the following:

  • Feeding your pets
  • Replenishing their water
  • Dispensing medications (additional fee)
  • Scooping the poop/cleaning the litter box
  • Checking for any health problems
  • Exercising and/or playing with them
  • Bringing in the paper, mail, trash barrels
  • Turning on lights, radio and/or TV; opening/closing blinds/curtains
  • Watering plants, indoors or out
  • Writing daily log of visits
  • Sleepovers or house sitting (from dinner hour through early a.m. routine)

Dog Walking

Would you like a dog as tired as you are when you get home each night? Just call Creeture Comforts! We'll give your dog (or dogs) the kind of regular exercise you may not be able to do because you work long hours, travel a lot or just can't do it - for any reason. We can walk your dog as many times a week (or day) as you like. Most clients have us come anywhere from 2-5 times a week and pay on a monthly basis by the first of the month. Occasional or irregular appointments are due and payable at the time of service.

Doggie Day Care

Creeture Comforts at Great Pond Mew comprises about an acre of lush, tree-shaded lawn, surrounded by a Cape Cod fence, where your dog can run and play with other well-socialized canines (puppies must be at least 4 months old with all shots current).* We also have a small indoor play area in the same building that houses our office (and dog boarders) should the weather prevent us from enjoying the great outdoors!

Doggie Day Camp

From Memorial Day to Labor Day we offer Doggie Day Camp (see site page).

Dog Boarding: Creeture Comforts at Great Pond Mew

If your dog needs more companionship and activity than a home stay provides, why not try boarding at The Mew? We can take up to four dogs at one time, so be sure to make your reservations as early as possible. Why so few? Because in the absence of a traditional kennel with individual runs, logistics can be challenging. But also because we live in a residential area that requires us to keep noise levels to a minimum.

Dogs stay in a home-like environment in the small building that houses the Creeture Comforts office. It consists of a small sitting room, general office area, bathroom, back room and unfinished space used as a play room. There is also a doggie door that opens to a fenced-in area, where our guests can do their "business" anytime and play as often as they like.

Before scheduling a stay at The Mew, an interview with your dog is required. We carefully screen our canine guests for good social behavior, reliable house training and current vaccinations. Preference is given to those who are crate-trained.

To apply for dog boarding, please bring proof of current vaccinations, (including Bordatella within the previous six months), and be prepared to fill out two sets of forms (available on the Documents page of this Web site: Boarding Agreement and Boarding Q&A).

When you're ready to bring your best friend to stay at The Mew, be sure to bring

  • Enough food (and treats, if desired) to last (plus a little extra in case you're delayed)
  • Any medications or other special items they may need
  • A crate pad or blanket, or a non-toy item with the familiar scents of home.

Note: We do not recommend bringing toys or bones as they may get lost, destroyed or spark a fight.

Most of our canine guests thoroughly enjoy their stay here and often don't want to go home when their parents come for them. However, there are a few who don't adjust well to their surroundings here and may create disturbances or damage our property. To avoid these circumstances, we offer free trial overnights.

However, if during a stay here your dog engages in excessive barking, especially at night or in the early morning hours, urinates and/or defecates indoors, or otherwise becomes a nuisance, we reserve the right to transfer the dog to a local boarding facility, or to your home for in-home pet visits, whichever your prefer.
